WHERE DOES THE CITY’S WATER COME FROM?
Popular education materials
The Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC) is an organization dedicated to environmental education and the preservation of wetlands in northeastern Queens. Built on a salt marsh, the center was intentionally designed to demonstrate sustainable building practices and function as a teaching tool.
During construction, these popular education materials were created to explain where New York City’s water comes from, what a combined sewer system is, and how water collection at APEC differs from traditional buildings.
